Emma Q Dewey

Emma Q Dewey is the CODECE Program Manager at the Center of Southwest Culture. She provides training in regenerative agriculture and ongoing support to growers participating in the CODECE and ¡Sembrando Salud! programs. Emma works with our fundraising team to seek out funding opportunities and submit grant proposals in support of CSC's programs. Emma has worked with CSC since early 2019 and is a full-time employee.

Emma was born and raised in the South Valley, where she developed a deep love and appreciation for agriculture, ecology and native medicinal plants. In 2014, after ten years of navigating an unfulfilling career in hospitality, Emma became a farm intern and completed a full farm apprenticeship program at a 30-acre certified organic farm in the South Valley, launching her into her agricultural career and calling. Emma has since worked with multiple local agribusinesses, gaining extensive experience through multiple roles like field crewmember, delivery driver, meal kit designer, procurement manager and food processor, and manager of general operations for a large locally-based home delivery food hub.

Emma is a graduate of the Soil Health Academy and is a lifelong student of herbalism and native plant medicine, bringing a regenerative and ecologically-conscious approach to her agricultural training techniques. Emma is a certified Tier I, Tier II, and Produce Safety Alliance Food Safety trainer and assists farmers in assessing and managing food safety risks on their farms. Emma draws on her combination of experience, ongoing training, and her commitment to food justice to empower growers of all experience levels to achieve success in food production and land stewardship so that we can increase food security in our communities and help restore the environment for future generations.
