Jason Gonzales

Jason Gonzales is a member of the CODECE farming program technical staff.

After spending 25 years in the grocery retail industry, primarily in management, Jason Gonzalez chose to pursue a lifelong dream of farming. Raised in the South Valley of Albuquerque and inspired by his grandfather’s expansive gardens, he developed a deep respect for growing food and its role in community resilience. He became an entrepreneur in 2017 and fully transitioned into farming by 2021. Jason lives in Gonzales Ranch near Villanueva State Park in San Miguel County, where he grows microgreens, nursery plants, and seasonal crops. He is the founder and board president of Tesoros del Valle Farmers Market in Villanueva, and serves on the board of the El Valle Community Center and Library, a vital food bank, educational hub, and gathering place for the community. He is committed to helping gardeners become market farmers and supporting local producers in expanding their operations. His work centers on strengthening local food systems and promoting health, sustainability, and opportunity across rural New Mexico.
